Censys Assistant
The Censys Assistant is an AI-powered tool in the Censys Platform UI that allows you to input questions in a natural language and obtain answers based on the assets and data present in the Censys Internet Map.

The Censys Assistant is a beta feature that is available to Starter and Enterprise users.
NoteThe Query Assistant is a another AI-powered tool that is built into the Platform search bar. The Query Assistant converts natural language input into Censys Query Language queries.
How to use the Censys Assistant
-
In the Platform web console, click the three-stars icon in the top-right corner of the page next to the help icon.
-
In the prompt dialog box, enter a question or statement that can be answered using Censys data.
Example use cases
Investigate and pivot from a suspicious IP or web property
- Use the assistant to look up details about the host or web property a system in your environment has connected to using input like "what services are running on 1.1.1.1?"
- If the asset appears unremarkable in its current state, instruct the assistant to investigate the asset's history in a time frame that interests you.
- If you obtain values of interest, instruct the assistant to perform additional searches using those values to find related infrastructure. For example, prompt it to find other host services or web properties running the same certificates that you found on your first host or web property.
- If you are able to identify indicators of interest, instruct the assistant to build a collection targeting those indicators. Then, set up alerts to receive notifications about changes to the collection.
Gain visibility into exposed assets
- Instruct the assistant to search your organization's CIDR.
- Identify host services associated with your organization that should not be exposed.
- Use the assistant to investigate the history of a host with an exposed service to identify when the service was exposed.
- Remediate the exposure and consider using your assistant to build a collection monitor for additional exposures.
Find exposures on assets
Instruct the assistant to describe the vulnerabilities present on host broken down by CVE ID.
Understand threat presence
Use the assistant to describe threat infrastructure. For example, instruct the assistant to describe PolarEdge botnet presence in a particular ASN. Note that you must have access to threat data for a prompt like this to provide the most accurate results.
Credit consumption
The assistant uses Platform API endpoints to answer questions. Credits will be deducted from your account's balance based on the cost of the endpoint used and results produced. Learn more about API credit costs.
View historical chats
To view your previous interactions with the assistant, open the assistant panel and click Chats. All of your previous chats are listed with generated names.
Data processing information
Censys uses large language models (LLMs) from OpenAI and Anthropic to process information input into the Censys Assistant and output responses. Information sent in chat is shared with OpenAI and Anthropic, but Censys has opted out of allowing these third parties to use this data to train and improve their LLM models.
