Workspaces and User Access

If your Attack Surface Management subscription includes multiple workspaces, you can use workspaces to separate the attack surface of business entities within your organization and manage your internal teams' access to this data.

📘

Note

Workspace management is only available to ASM Enterprise customers.

Workspaces help you organize your attack surfaces, such as those related to acquisitions, mergers, or subsidiaries.

After you create a new workspace, you can add users and specify the seeds. You can also rename a workspace or flag one for deletion if you no longer need it.

If you want to add a team member in Attack Surface Management, first add them to Censys Search.

Open an existing workspace

Switching between workspaces is as simple as clicking the Workspace menu in the upper left and selecting the workspace you want to open.

Add a new workspace

You can add a new workspace when your Censys Attack Surface Management subscription includes multiple workspaces. You must be a team admin to do so.

We recommend naming your workspace descriptively so others can recognize its purpose. For example, the name "North office" isn't as descriptive as the name of the business unit or subsidiary.

  1. Team admins see an option at the top of the Workspace to add a new workspace.

  2. On the Add New Workspace page, type the name of your new workspace. The name can be up to 32 characters and spaces, including special characters.

  3. Click Submit. The Workspace Management page opens, where you can add staff members.

Add or remove staff members

After you create a workspace, you can add team staff, who can be members or managers. You can also remove a team member who no longer needs access.

There are two ways to add team members in Censys Attack Surface Management.

  1. Add the user to your SSO. When the new user clicks the Censys Attack Surface Management icon in your SSO, they are logged into your Censys Attack Surface Management Team.
  2. Manually add the new user to your Team in Censys Attack Surface Management. The steps are listed below.

Permissions for each role are:

  • Member: Can manage all assets, including seeds. Cannot manage workspace, API keys, or integrations. The default role for all new users is Member.
  • Manager: Can manage all assets, seeds, their workspace, including user access, and API key and integrations. Team admins are automatically Manager roles.

Team admins have automatic access to every team workspace as Manager. All new users are automatically assigned the role of Member, but you can promote them to Manager in the workspace.

Add users

You can add current users from your Censys team to the workspace or invite a colleague to create a Censys account and join your workspace.

After adding a user to the workspace, the added workspace appears by name in their workspace navigator.

  1. To add an existing user from your team, open the workspace and click next to the workspace name.

  2. Click Add User. A list of users from your team appears, which you can add to the workspace.

  3. Select the user’s name from the list, or type it in and click Add User.

  4. An invitation to your Censys team and a link are sent to the email. The link is valid for three days.

Remove users

  1. To remove an existing user from your workspace, open the workspace and click next to the workspace name.

  2. Locate the user and click Remove on the right of the user’s row.

Rename or remove workspaces

You can rename existing workspaces or delete workspaces you no longer need.

Rename a workspace

  1. To rename an existing workspace, open the workspace and click next to the workspace name.

  2. On the workspace management page, click the next to the name.

  3. In the text box, type the new name of your workspace. The name can be up to 32 characters and spaces, including special characters.

  4. Click Submit.

Delete a workspace

If you don't need a workspace anymore, you can flag it to be deleted. You can't delete a workspace on your own–Censys removes a flagged workspace for you. You must be a Team admin to flag a workspace for deletion.

  1. To delete a workspace you no longer need, open the workspace and click next to the workspace name.

  2. Click the Delete workspace link in the upper right. Then, a delete request will be sent to Censys customer service.

  3. Customer service will contact you to confirm and then remove the workspace.
