Opt Out of Data Collection

Censys strives to be a good citizen of the security industry.

Censys only scans to get information. Censys never tries to log into any service, read any database, or otherwise gain authenticated access to any system.

Censys scans help the scientific community accurately study the Internet. Censys data is often used to identify security issues and notify operators of vulnerable systems for remediation. Opting out of data collection may prevent you from receiving these critical security alerts.

If you want to opt out, configure your firewall to drop traffic from the subnets and ASNs we use for scanning:

Additionally, our HTTP-based scans use a Censys-specific user agent, which can filter requests from our scanners.

Blocking connections from Censys' subnets prevents our scanners from indexing your services. However, this does not remove historical data from Censys datasets.

Host and virtual host services are usually removed from Censys Search within 24 to 48 hours after their last recorded observation timestamp.
